Udaipur, 14 August (Kiran News) : The Transport Department has launched an enforcement drive against individuals renting two-wheelers to tourists without a valid license.
Regional Transport Officer Gyandev Vishwakarma informed that the operation, led by District Transport Officer Nitin Bohra, saw departmental inspectors take action against operators engaged in renting two-wheelers to tourists within the city. On the first day of the drive, documents of 17 rental two-wheelers were inspected by the department’s flying squad.
During the inspection, seven individuals were found renting vehicles without valid licenses, and four of their vehicles were seized. Additionally, five vehicles lacked valid fitness certificates, and seven vehicles were operating without valid insurance and pollution control certificates. Legal proceedings have been initiated under the Motor Vehicles Act, and challans were issued to the respective vehicle owners.
The department noted that many individuals are offering vehicles for rent to tourists by obtaining permits only, without securing proper licenses as per the prescribed scheme. The RTO has instructed the District Transport Officer to conduct detailed investigations and take strict action against such operators.
District Transport Officer Nitin Bohra stated that seven traders operating without valid licenses have been instructed to shut down their businesses immediately and obtain licenses as per regulations before renting out any vehicles. He added that continuous action will be taken against illegal vehicle rental operations.
Flying squads deployed across the city have been directed to take strict action against those operating without valid licenses and permits, and to immediately seize vehicles found violating norms while registering cases under the Motor Vehicles Act.
