Abhijit Muhurat and Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga: A Guide to Guru Pradosh Vrat on May 14

New Delhi, May 13: The auspicious Pradosh Vrat dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati will be observed on May 14 (Thursday). This day coincides with Thursday, hence it is referred to as Guru Pradosh Vrat. Notably, a special conjunction is forming this day. The Abhijit Muhurat will be effective throughout the day, along with Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga, which is considered highly favorable for initiating any auspicious work. However, it is essential to be mindful of inauspicious timings such as Panchak and Rahukal.

Pradosh Vrat is observed on the Trayodashi Tithi of every month. When this date falls during the Pradosh period, it is the best time for Shiva worship. The Pradosh that occurs on a Thursday is known as Guru Pradosh or Brihaspati Pradosh. Observing a fast on this day is believed to bring spiritual advancement, knowledge of dharma, education, wealth, prosperity, and happiness. This special day also attracts the blessings of Lord Shiva, the celestial guru Brihaspati, and Lord Narayan.

On Thursday, sunrise will be at 5:31 AM, and sunset will occur at 7:04 PM. The Pradosh period will last from 7:04 PM to 9:09 PM. The Trayodashi Tithi will be effective from 11:20 AM on May 14 until 8:31 AM on May 15.

Devotees can perform worship, Rudrabhishek, or fasting during the Abhijit Muhurat. With Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga prevailing all day, it is an excellent time for prayers, mantra chanting, and auspicious activities. However, it is advised not to start any new ventures during Rahukal and Panchak.

Regarding auspicious timings, the Abhijit Muhurat will be from 11:51 AM to 12:45 PM. Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga will be effective throughout the day. The Vijay Muhurat will be from 2:33 PM to 3:27 PM, Amrit Kal from 8:20 PM to 9:49 PM, and Brahma Muhurat from 4:07 AM to 4:49 AM, which is considered ideal for starting new endeavors.

In terms of inauspicious timings, Rahukal will be from 1:59 PM to 3:41 PM, Panchak from 5:31 AM to 10:34 PM, Yamgand from 5:31 AM to 7:13 AM, Gulik Kal from 8:54 AM to 10:36 AM, and Durmuhurat from 10:02 AM to 10:56 AM.
