Rajnath Singh Accuses Opposition of Seeking Chaos to Seize Power

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh criticizes the opposition for attempting to create chaos in India, drawing parallels with Bangladeshs political turmoil.

Lucknow, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Defense Minister Rajnath Singh launched a strong critique against the opposition and the INDIA alliance, accusing them of aiming for chaos rather than electoral reform. During a press conference in Lucknow, he specifically targeted Rahul Gandhi, claiming that the youth are being manipulated into becoming instruments of disorder. Singh warned that certain factions appear to be inspired by events in Bangladesh, seeking a similar shift in power within India.

He emphasized that political gains should not come at the expense of the nation’s constitutional institutions. Singh remarked that the journey of India’s development cannot be disrupted by false outrage and the tarnishing of these institutions. He urged Gandhi to abandon obstructionist politics and respect the electoral mandate, suggesting a need for self-reflection on his political role.

Singh accused the Congress party and its allies of using the youth as pawns in political confrontations. He highlighted that some individuals are openly calling for the government to be toppled, insisting that their struggle is not about electoral reform or any issue related to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Instead, he characterized their actions as a desperate attempt to gain power. The Defense Minister asserted that India’s future lies in dialogue and nation-building, not in conflict.

He further criticized Congress for undermining constitutional values, referencing the Emergency period and the anti-Sikh riots of 1984. Singh recalled the imposition of the Emergency during former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s tenure, accusing Rahul Gandhi of manipulating the Constitution for political convenience. He also questioned Congress’s stance on the Election Commission, recalling past appointments and events related to the Chief Election Commissioner in 1993 as a critique of their historical role.

Singh urged Congress to respond to questions regarding its political history and the electoral system. He affirmed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has consistently respected the electoral process and constitutional institutions. He also referenced the events surrounding the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, suggesting that discussions should take place regarding the suspension of elections based on singular incidents.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Singh noted that India’s global stature has risen, and the nation is making significant strides forward. He pointed to the achievements in digital transactions, reiterating that attempts to halt India’s development through political strife and chaos must be resisted.
