New Delhi, August 10: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Jarnail Singh has raised concerns regarding the Delhi government’s Laxmi scheme. He stated that only one out of four women benefits from this initiative, even though all four require assistance.
In a recent discussion, Singh emphasized that the Delhi government must address the shortcomings of the Laxmi scheme. He highlighted that the benefits are not reaching those who need them most. Singh also criticized Delhi government minister Sirsa for claiming that no applicants in Punjab have received benefits from the scheme, calling it misinformation and a blatant lie.
Singh remarked, “We have requested the Speaker to remove this statement from the assembly records. So far, 6.85 million applicants in Punjab have benefited from the scheme, with funds already transferred to their bank accounts. Falsehoods are being spread in the assembly, and the Speaker is providing protection to these claims. There are different rules for the ruling party and the opposition, which is quite unfortunate.”
He further pointed out, “The issue is that the government is purchasing bicycles that are easily available in the market for ₹4,000 at a price of ₹7,000. Moreover, when buying in bulk, such as 130,000 or 140,000 bicycles, the government should be able to secure them at an even lower price. We expected the government to purchase them for ₹3,000, but instead, they are paying ₹7,000 each.”
Singh asserted that this situation directly points to corruption. He expressed disbelief that the Speaker is defending the government’s corruption. When a discussion on this matter was requested, the Speaker denied them time and ordered them to leave the assembly. The greed of the BJP government has reached a level where even children’s bicycles are not spared.
