AAP Faces Scrutiny Over Legislators Performance Ahead of Punjab Elections
BJPs Anil Sarin questions AAPs governance as party reviews performance of its legislators before the 2027 Punjab elections.

Chandigarh, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab is raising concerns over the governance of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Anil Sarin, the BJP’s General Secretary, stated on October 30 that AAP is reportedly reviewing the performance of its current legislators ahead of the 2027 assembly elections. There are indications that around 45 sitting MLAs may not receive tickets for re-election.
Sarin highlighted that if AAP leadership is dissatisfied with nearly half of its current legislators, it raises significant questions about the party’s overall performance during its nearly five-year tenure in power. He pointed out that AAP came to power promising change and made numerous commitments to the public.
However, he questioned why there is a discussion about replacing such a large number of sitting MLAs if the government believes its performance has been satisfactory. This raises doubts about the party’s ability to meet public expectations through its elected representatives.
Sarin also reminded the public that during the election campaign, leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann promised to provide opportunities for dedicated party volunteers from ordinary backgrounds to become legislators. He asked if the party has lost faith in those very volunteers whose hard work helped bring AAP to power.
He emphasized that AAP must provide clear answers to the people of Punjab regarding the performance of its legislators, the fulfillment of electoral promises, and its commitment to the party workers and volunteers who contributed to its rise.
Sarin concluded by stating that the people of Punjab deserve accountability from a government that promised a new political culture and better governance, not excuses.
