24-Hour Emergency Medical Room Opens at Bardhaman Railway Station

Bardhaman, September 24 (Daily Kiran) : The Eastern Railway has inaugurated a 24-hour emergency medical room at Bardhaman Junction Railway Station to improve passenger facilities. This service will provide medical assistance to travelers around the clock.

Bardhaman is a key station on the Howrah-Delhi rail route, with trains running continuously throughout the day. It serves as a major hub for short-distance express and suburban trains.

According to an official, the emergency medical room will be operated in collaboration with KIMS Hospital. This facility aims to provide immediate medical assistance to passengers who may fall ill during their journey or encounter emergencies on the trains.

Located near the main entrance of the station, the emergency medical room will be operational every day of the week. It will offer basic medical services, with advanced treatment available when necessary. Additionally, the facility includes an ambulance service, pharmacy, and laboratory.

An official stated, “This integrated medical support system is expected to provide timely help to rail passengers. It will also enhance safety and healthcare services for travelers.” The establishment of this emergency medical room is part of Eastern Railway’s efforts to strengthen medical facilities at major railway stations.

A similar facility is already operational at Bolpur Station, and another is expected to be launched at Rampurhat Station after the Durga Puja festival. Both Bolpur and Rampurhat are significant stations connecting Howrah, North Bengal, and northeastern states.

Another official emphasized the importance of such emergency medical rooms at stations and on long-distance trains. Often, passengers need to be disembarked due to health issues during travel.

He added, “The initial moments are crucial in dealing with serious cases. Once the patient’s condition stabilizes, a decision can be made whether to transfer them to a hospital or allow them to continue their journey.”

The emergency medical room has been strategically placed near the station’s entrance to ensure maximum accessibility for passengers. Authorities noted that individuals who feel unwell after exiting the ticketed area or before purchasing tickets will also be able to utilize this medical service.
