Beijing, September 24 (Daily Kiran) : In Beijing, the Ministry of Commerce held a press conference where spokesperson He Yadong addressed questions regarding the eighth round of trade talks between China and the United States, which took place in New York.
He Yadong announced that economic and trade teams from both nations recently convened for these discussions. Guided by significant agreements made by the respective leaders, the talks adhered to principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and beneficial cooperation. The two sides engaged in open, in-depth, and constructive discussions on shared issues related to trade and economics, resulting in agreements on several key points. These include the implementation of previously established agreements, a mutual tariff reduction system, the establishment of a trade council and an investment council, and the postponement of a joint arrangement for trade and economic consultations in Kuala Lumpur.
As chief negotiators, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Basant held their first dialogue on artificial intelligence under the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism. Moving forward, China aims to maintain close communication with the U.S. regarding follow-up actions under this framework.
