11 Arrested in Tiger Shroff Shooting Case Presented in MCOCA Court

Eleven suspects in the Tiger Shroff shooting case have been presented in court, with police seeking 10 days of custody for further investigation.

Mumbai, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Eleven individuals arrested in connection with the shooting case involving actor Tiger Shroff were presented in a special MCOCA court in Mumbai on Thursday. The Mumbai Crime Branch requested a 10-day police custody for the suspects to facilitate further questioning. Authorities indicated that during the investigation, digital evidence and voice chats among the suspects had been recovered, suggesting they operated as a coordinated group.

The Crime Branch informed the court that the suspects face charges under the Maharashtra Organized Crime Control Act (MCOCA). They identified the alleged gang leader, Anil Pandit, who is currently at large, asserting that he directed the criminal activities.

In their plea for custody, police stated the need to trace the sources of the weapons involved, one of which is reportedly foreign-made. Additionally, they aim to uncover who provided ground-level support for the execution of the crime.

The investigation revealed digital evidence linked to conversations among the suspects. According to police, they communicated using foreign messaging apps like Signal to conceal their identities. The agency requested permission to interrogate the suspects further and to record their voice samples based on this evidence.

The police argued that it was crucial to question the suspects in each other’s presence to compare their statements and investigate the roles of other individuals involved in the incident.

Defense attorneys opposed the demand for police custody, arguing that significant evidence, including the recovery of weapons, had already been secured. They suggested that financial transactions related to the suspects’ bank accounts could be examined instead of extending police custody.

During the hearing, the medical condition of one of the defendants, Samir, was raised. The defense noted that he has only one functioning kidney and mentioned that his medical report would be submitted to the court.

Language barriers also surfaced during the proceedings. The judge instructed the defendants to cooperate with the police investigation and inquired whether they understood Marathi. The defendants responded that they did not speak the language, prompting the judge to comment in Hindi about their presence in Maharashtra.

The Crime Branch reiterated the necessity of the 10-day police custody to explore the sources of the weapons, the alleged gang network, financial transactions, and digital evidence related to the case.
