Young Man Murdered Over Cousins Marriage Dispute in Palamu

Palamu, May 17: The police in Palamu district, Jharkhand, have solved a murder case within 24 hours. The victim, Pawan Singh, was killed due to a dispute arising from a romantic relationship with his cousin sister. Authorities have arrested the main accused, Ravi Singh, who is also Pawan’s maternal uncle, aged 50.

During a press conference at the Superintendent of Police’s office, DSP Rajesh Yadav revealed the shocking details of the incident. Pawan had been involved in a romantic affair with his married cousin sister, Soni Devi, for the past one and a half to two months. Soni, a mother of one, was being pressured by Pawan to marry him.

On the night of May 15, Pawan went to his cousin’s home in Dulsulma village to persuade her to marry him. Around midnight, Ravi Singh lost his temper upon finding his daughter with her lover. In a fit of rage, he struck Pawan on the head with a stick, resulting in his immediate death.

After committing the crime, Ravi attempted to stage the murder as a suicide. He transported Pawan’s body to a nearby hill, tying it to a tree with a scarf. Following the incident, Pawan’s father, Vijay Singh, filed a formal complaint against Soni Devi, her husband Phantush Singh, and brother-in-law Pankaj Singh for murder.

Police investigations revealed the true story based on scientific and circumstantial evidence, leading to the arrest of Ravi Singh. The weapon used in the murder has also been recovered, and the accused has confessed to his crime.
