Yashasvi Jaiswal Hits a Six on the First Ball for the Fourth Time in IPL History

Jaipur, May 1: Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has achieved the remarkable feat of hitting a six on the very first ball of an IPL innings for the fourth time. This places him at the top of the list for such accomplishments. During the match held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaiswal sent the first delivery from Delhi Capitals’ fast bowler Mitchell Starc soaring over the boundary.

In the list of players who have hit a six on the first ball of an IPL innings, Priyansh Arya ranks second with two instances. Other players, including Naman Ojha, Mayank Agarwal, Sunil Narine, Virat Kohli, Robin Uthappa, Phil Salt, and Sanju Samson, have each done it once.

Additionally, Jaiswal has become the fifth player to hit a six on the first ball of an IPL match. In 2009, Naman Ojha (RR) hit a six off Brad Hodge (KKR). In IPL 2019, Virat Kohli (RCB) achieved this against Varun Aaron (RR). In IPL 2024, Phil Salt (KKR) hit a six off Nuwan Tushara (MI), and in IPL 2025, Priyansh Arya (PBKS) did it against Khaleel Ahmed (CSK).

After hitting a six on the first ball, Jaiswal played a dot ball on the next delivery and then caught out Starc on the third ball.

Under the captaincy of Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals fielded Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryawanshi, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Donovan Ferreira, Ravindra Jadeja, Shubham Dubey, Jofra Archer, Ravi Bishnoi, Nandre Burger, and Brajesh Sharma.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, included KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Pathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi, Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, Kyle Jamieson, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, and T Natarajan in their lineup.

With six wins out of nine matches, Rajasthan Royals currently sit in fourth place on the points table. If they secure a victory against DC, they will rise to second place with 14 points. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals, having lost five out of eight matches, are in seventh place and will aim to improve their standing with a win in this match.
