Beijing, May 31: As International Children’s Day approaches on June 1, Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on children and youth to carry forward revolutionary traditions. This message was conveyed in response to a letter from representatives of Young Pioneers, guiding students at monuments linked to the founding sites of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) in Shanghai and Zhejiang Province.
Xi encouraged students to continuously acquire knowledge and develop their skills. He extended heartfelt wishes to all children across the nation for International Children’s Day.
In his response, Xi expressed pleasure in learning that students are dedicated to sharing the history of the CPC, including the site of its first national congress in Shanghai and the famous “Red Boat” at Nanhu Lake in Zhejiang. He noted that this engagement has strengthened the students’ love for the Party, the country, and socialism, playing a positive role in their personal development.
This year marks the 105th anniversary of the CPC’s founding. Xi emphasized the need for ongoing struggle and dedication across generations to realize the Party’s ideals and objectives. He expressed hope that young pioneers would follow the Party’s leadership, advance revolutionary traditions, and continuously develop their knowledge and skills. He urged them to build strong character and become reliable successors to the Party and the people, fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to them by history.
In 2021, during the centenary celebration of the CPC, a practical experience program titled “I Tell the Party’s Story – Striving to Become a Young Pioneer Guide” was launched. Under this initiative, young pioneers from across the country visited revolutionary sites to learn about the Party’s history and share its stories with the public.
Recently, representatives of young pioneer guides from the CPC’s First National Congress Memorial Hall in Shanghai and the Nanhu Revolutionary Memorial Hall in Zhejiang wrote to President Xi, sharing their experiences, achievements, and lessons learned. They also expressed their firm resolve to become responsible and ideal youth in the new era.
