Murshidabad, April 20: Senior BJP leader and Union Minister JP Nadda visited Murshidabad on Monday to campaign for the West Bengal Assembly elections. During his address, he stated that the people of West Bengal have decided to remove Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from power.
Speaking to reporters, Nadda expressed that the enthusiasm he observed across Bengal indicates that the public is ready to say goodbye to Mamata Didi.
He also claimed that there is a growing trend in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state, as citizens are frustrated with corruption and various issues. Many are living in a climate of fear, but they see hope in the BJP’s lotus symbol on May 4.
The primary contest in the West Bengal Assembly elections is between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP. This election is expected to be a tough political battle based on promises of better governance.
Voting in West Bengal will take place in just two phases across all 294 seats. The first phase is scheduled for April 23, followed by the second phase on April 29. The counting of votes will occur on May 4. In the first phase, voting will take place for 152 seats across 16 districts, while the remaining 142 seats in 7 districts will be voted on in the second phase.
The Election Commission has made extensive security arrangements, deploying approximately 240,000 central security forces, marking the largest deployment in a single state to date.
According to officials, security forces will remain stationed even after voting to ensure the safety of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), strong rooms, and counting centers.
With only two days left until the end of campaigning for the first phase, all parties are intensifying their efforts to attract voters.
