West Bengal Mandates E-Tendering for 25 Government Departments Starting November 3

West Bengal government announces mandatory e-tendering for 25 departments to enhance transparency and efficiency in project execution.

Kolkata, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : The West Bengal government has announced that e-tendering will be mandatory for 25 state government departments, effective November 3. This initiative aims to ensure timely and transparent completion of various projects.

According to a notification issued by the state’s finance department, new e-tender portals have been established for these departments. The measure is intended to enhance the efficiency of project implementation and ensure transparency in the tendering process.

The notification, signed by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department, P.K. Mishra, emphasizes the goal of “implementing various schemes effectively and on time.” It states, “The state government has launched this new portal to facilitate the timely and effective completion of government projects.”

From now on, all relevant departments and their subordinate offices must issue new tenders exclusively through this portal. This web portal was initially trialed in December 2025 under a special memorandum from the finance department.

Following this, the scope of the system was gradually expanded at the request of specific departments, including the Public Works Department (PWD), on August 12 of this year.

A finance department official noted, “This time, we have decided to fully implement this service across 25 departments simultaneously. All necessary information from the old portal is being swiftly transferred to the new system.”

The departments now required to adopt e-tendering include Agriculture and Agricultural Marketing, Animal Husbandry Development, Cooperation, Backward Classes Welfare, Consumer Protection, Disaster Management, School Education, Higher Education, Food and Supplies, Information and Cultural Affairs, Information Technology, Tourism, Fire Services, Home and Hill Affairs, Industry and Commerce, Labor, Fisheries, Food Processing, Horticulture, Housing, Prison Administration, Justice, and Women and Child Welfare.

The official added, “The main objective of this move is to expedite the tendering process and establish a shared digital infrastructure for all departments. With the launch of the new portal, transparency in government operations will increase, and delays will be significantly reduced. Departments have been instructed to strictly adhere to the new rules starting Tuesday.”
