Weather Department Issues Orange Alert for Multiple States Including Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi, August 10: The Weather Department has issued an immediate weather warning on Monday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several districts in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana are expected to experience strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning today. Moderate rainfall is also anticipated during this period.

The Weather Department has issued an orange alert, indicating the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by strong winds in Madhya Pradesh’s Agar-Malwa, Bhopal, Dewas, Indore, Mandsaur, Raisen, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Sehore, Shajapur, and Ujjain, as well as in Gujarat’s Chhota Udaipur, Dahod, Narmada, and Panchmahal.

In Uttar Pradesh, Saharanpur is warned of thunderstorms and lightning, while Uttarakhand’s Champawat, Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, and Haryana’s Yamunanagar are also expected to see rain accompanied by similar weather conditions. Residents in these areas have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions. The IMD has recommended avoiding shelter under trees or weak structures, monitoring road and traffic conditions, refraining from unnecessary travel, and following other guidelines issued by relevant agencies.

The Weather Department had also issued a warning on August 9. It forecasted heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh between August 10 and 13. Additionally, from August 9 to 15, heavy rains are expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

During the period from August 9-15, thunderstorms and lightning are anticipated in Uttarakhand, and from August 9-10 in western Rajasthan. Heavy rainfall is forecasted in Himachal Pradesh between August 12-15.

In central India, rainfall is likely in western Madhya Pradesh from August 13-15, in eastern Madhya Pradesh from August 12-15, and in Chhattisgarh on August 11. In northeastern India, rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh from August 9-11, and in Assam and Meghalaya from August 10-11. Significant rainfall is predicted across Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the period from August 9-15.
