Wang Yi Shares Insights from His Eurasia Visit in Sofia

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discusses cooperation and trust-building during his Eurasia trip at a press conference in Sofia.

Sofia, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a joint press conference in Sofia with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, where he discussed his recent Eurasia trip. This journey included attending the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) summit and visiting Azerbaijan, Croatia, Montenegro, and Bulgaria as a special envoy for President Xi Jinping.

During the conference, Wang shared four key insights from his travels. First, he emphasized that trust is the foundation of peace. He conveyed a clear message from China: steadfast belief, dialogue, mutual understanding, and collaboration are essential for rebuilding trust and fostering peace. China aims to play a constructive role in addressing crises and conflicts while standing on the right side of history.

Second, he noted that friendship is a valuable asset. The friendly exchanges between China and the four nations transcend time and distance, exemplifying the spirit of the ancient Silk Road and mutual enrichment among Eurasian civilizations. Wang called for these friendships to be revitalized with contemporary significance and to be actively promoted.

Third, he highlighted that cooperation serves as a strong driving force. China is eager to tap into the potential of collaboration with these countries, enhancing cooperation in traditional sectors like trade, investment, and infrastructure. He mentioned the Belt and Road Initiative and the Central Corridor as frameworks for this cooperation, along with a focus on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and green transformation.

Finally, Wang stressed that partnership is a shared goal. He expressed China’s commitment to work alongside the European Union to promote multilateralism, practice free trade, and elevate mutual cooperation to new heights. The collaboration between China and Central and Eastern European nations aligns with current trends and development needs, serving as a crucial mechanism for European integration. Wang looks forward to leveraging the upcoming 15th anniversary of cooperation next year as an opportunity to further enhance ties with these countries.
