VIP Darshan Suspended at Maihar Sharada Temple for Navratri Festivities

Maihar, March 19: On the first day of Chaitra Navratri, temples across the country are witnessing a significant influx of devotees. At the revered Shakti Peeth, the Maihar Sharada Temple in Madhya Pradesh, authorities have decided to suspend VIP darshan to facilitate better access for the increasing number of visitors. This ban will remain in effect for the nine days of Navratri, ensuring that all devotees can have a comfortable experience during their visit.

In light of the grand fair scheduled from March 19 to March 27 at the Maa Sharada Devi Temple, the administration has made a crucial decision to completely prohibit VIP darshan during this period. According to officials, millions of devotees from across the country and abroad visit Maihar to seek blessings from the goddess during Navratri. This measure aims to prevent any inconvenience to the general public and to ensure a smooth darshan process.

Maihar Collector Rani Batad has stated that the heavy crowd expected during Chaitra Navratri necessitates the temporary halt of VIP darshan. She has urged everyone to refrain from requesting VIP access, as it causes inconvenience to others. Devotees are encouraged to follow the designated routes to reach the temple for darshan.

It is noteworthy that the Maa Sharada Devi Temple is a famous Shakti Peeth, believed to be the site where a part of Goddess Sati’s body fell. This is why the temple is often referred to as Maihar, meaning “Mother’s Necklace.” The temple is renowned for its ancient legends and beliefs. Interestingly, it is said that the first worship at the temple is not performed by the priest but by the goddess’s ardent devotee, Alha. Legend has it that fresh flowers are found near the idol when the temple doors are opened, indicating that Alha performs the worship before the priest.
