Chennai, April 18: Actor-turned-politician Vijay accused the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) of obstructing his party, Tamilga Vettree Kazhagam (TVK), during their election campaign on Saturday.
Vijay stated that permissions for public meetings and outreach programs are being deliberately delayed, restricted, or canceled at the last minute. This not only affects his schedule but also disrupts the plans of TVK candidates across various constituencies.
This statement comes amid reports that a proposed election event in Kadalur had to be canceled, and a door-to-door campaign in Perambur was postponed due to a lack of permission.
Vijay claimed these actions are attempts to curb the growing public support for his party. He urged the public to critically assess the unfolding events during the elections and to remain vigilant.
Attacking the DMK government, he alleged that the state is plagued by “uncontrolled misgovernance and corruption,” alongside “unlimited false promises” aimed at misleading the public.
He sarcastically remarked that the DMK has now become a “limited company,” asserting that the public will “limit them and send them home” in the upcoming assembly elections.
Vijay also accused certain media outlets of spreading “misleading and fabricated news” regarding permissions for his party’s events, which he believes is damaging TVK’s image and outreach.
Referencing social reformers like E.V. Ramasamy, K. Kamaraj, and C.N. Annadurai, he emphasized that Tamil Nadu’s tradition of social justice and secularism will not allow “fascist and anti-people forces” to advance.
Despite these allegations, Vijay expressed confidence that a natural wave of support for TVK is building across the state, and his party will overcome all challenges to “make history” in the elections.
As the election campaign enters a decisive phase, Vijay’s remarks are seen as indicative of the escalating rhetoric in state politics and the emergence of new political dynamics.
