Lucknow, August 22: The Uttar Pradesh government is making strides in women’s empowerment. It has greenlit the launch of an incubation center under the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM). This initiative aims to provide technical and business support to women entrepreneurs associated with self-help groups.
After receiving approval from the central government, the center will strengthen and expand enterprises run by these women, connecting them to market opportunities.
The incubation center will receive technical assistance from IIM Lucknow. Through this collaboration, women entrepreneurs will gain expert guidance in areas such as business planning, product development, quality assurance, branding and packaging, financial management, digital technology, market access, and enterprise expansion. Additionally, efforts will be made to connect promising enterprises with experts, financial institutions, and market opportunities.
Arun Kumar, Mission Director of the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, stated that this incubation center will assist women in self-help groups from identifying and establishing their enterprises to strengthening, expanding, and accessing markets. The goal is to provide technical and business support tailored to the actual needs of their businesses, beyond just training.
Kumar emphasized that women in self-help groups are no longer limited to livelihood activities; many are now establishing their own enterprises. The incubation center will play a crucial role in providing necessary technical guidance, expert support, and market connections for these ventures. With the help of IIM Lucknow, rural women entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to organize and scale their businesses.
He added that this initiative will help transform small enterprises run by women in villages into robust businesses, thereby increasing their income and economic self-reliance.
