New York, March 29: In response to escalating tensions with Iran, the United States has increased its military presence in the Middle East. According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), approximately 3,500 Marines and sailors have arrived in the region.
CENTCOM announced on the social media platform X that sailors and Marines aboard the USS Tripoli reached the area under U.S. Central Command on March 27.
The USS Tripoli is a large amphibious assault ship, serving as the flagship for the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. This deployment includes around 3,500 troops equipped with fighter jets, attack helicopters, and the capability to conduct operations both at sea and on land.

While the exact locations for these troops remain unclear, it is speculated that they may be stationed near Iran and its Kharg Island, a vital hub for oil exports.
