Urgent Action Needed for Summer Moong Procurement in Madhya Pradesh: Digvijaya Singh

Bhopal, April 25: Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh, has called for immediate action regarding the procurement of summer moong in the state. In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Singh highlighted that Kedar Sirohi, a former member of the Agricultural Advisory Council, has informed him that the summer moong crop is ready for market entry.

Currently, the prices of moong in private markets are falling below the minimum support price, posing a significant financial risk to farmers. Singh also pointed out that every year, the state government sends a proposal to the central government for moong procurement, which allows for purchases under the price support scheme. However, no such proposal has been submitted to the center this year.

According to the girdawari report, there has been a 15 to 20 percent increase in the area under summer moong cultivation this season, indicating a substantial rise in production potential.

Digvijaya Singh urged the Chief Minister to instruct the relevant departments to promptly send a proposal to the central government for the procurement of summer moong at the minimum support price. He expressed confidence that the state government would act sensitively on this matter, providing relief to the farmers of the state.
