Bhopal, June 13: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav during his visit to Bhopal on Saturday. The Chief Minister welcomed Pradhan with a bouquet and a traditional shawl at his official residence. The two leaders discussed issues related to education and youth development during their meeting.
Earlier, Pradhan participated in a cleanliness drive at the Nageshwar Mahadev Temple in Suraj Nagar, part of the celebrations marking 12 years of Narendra Modi’s government at the center. He highlighted this initiative as a reflection of public participation and urged citizens to incorporate cleanliness into their lives, contributing to a clean, healthy, and developed India.
Following this, Pradhan visited a shooting academy in Bhopal alongside Madhya Pradesh’s Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, Vishwas Sarang, where he interacted with athletes. He informed them about the central government’s focus on skill development and sports under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Pradhan emphasized that the National Education Policy (NEP) promotes sports and physical education, integrating them into mainstream education. He stated, “We are developing a dedicated academic plan to ensure that sports and education progress together. The government is also working on linking athletes’ academic records with their sports achievements through their APAR ID. We aim to recognize students for their passion for sports.”
He further mentioned that prestigious institutions like IIT have initiated sports quotas to support talented athletes in pursuing higher education without compromising their sports careers.
The Union Minister asserted that India must continue its journey towards self-reliance over the next two decades. Hosting the 2036 Olympics is a national ambition, and he reiterated the commitment to fulfilling Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a ‘Developed India’ by 2047.
