Ukraine and US Delegates Hold Talks in Florida to Address Key Issues

Miami, March 22: Ukrainian and US delegations engaged in crucial discussions in Florida, focusing on specific issues and the next steps to resolve the Ukraine crisis. Rustam Umierov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), provided insights on the meetings.

According to a report from Interfax-Ukraine, Umierov stated, “We continued discussions on essential issues and upcoming steps in the negotiation track. Special attention was given to coordinating methods to move towards practical outcomes.”

As reported by Xinhua, Umierov met with David Arakhamia, head of the ‘Servant of the People’ parliamentary group, Kirilo Budanov, head of the Presidential Office, and Sergey Kislytsya, the first deputy head of the Presidential Office.

The US delegation included Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former President Donald Trump, senior advisor Josh Gruenbaum, and senior policy advisor Chris Kurent from the State Department.

Umierov noted that a report on the outcomes of the first day of the Ukraine-US meeting was presented to President Volodymyr Zelensky.

In a video address on Saturday, Zelensky mentioned that the Ukrainian and US teams would continue their discussions on Sunday. A key topic was understanding how prepared Russia is to genuinely resolve the crisis. This information was released on the official website of the Ukrainian President.

Witkoff shared on social media platform X that the US and Ukrainian delegations had “constructive talks” in Florida, focusing on reducing and resolving outstanding issues to move closer to a comprehensive peace agreement.

He wrote, “We welcome ongoing discussions aimed at resolving remaining issues and recognize their importance for global stability.”

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Friday that Russia would not participate in the talks on Saturday.

Previously, delegations from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia held two rounds of talks in Abu Dhabi on January 23-24 and February 4-5, followed by another round in Geneva on February 17-18.
