UAE Neutralizes 13 Ballistic Missiles and 27 Drones Launched by Iran

Abu Dhabi, March 18: The Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that the country’s air defense system successfully neutralized 13 ballistic missiles and 27 drones launched from Iran on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, “Since the onset of clear Iranian aggression, the UAE’s air defense has intercepted 327 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,699 drones. Tragically, two armed forces personnel lost their lives while fulfilling their national duty. Additionally, six civilians from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Palestine also perished.”

The statement further revealed, “A total of 158 individuals were injured, with varying degrees of severity. The injured include nationals from the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Turkey, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden, and Tunisia.”

The UAE’s Ministry of Defense emphasized its readiness to confront any threats. The ministry clarified that it would respond decisively to any attempts to undermine the country’s security, sovereignty, stability, and national interests.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday, reiterating strong condemnation of the attacks on the country that resulted in the loss of innocent lives and damage to civilian infrastructure.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), during discussions on the current situation in West Asia, PM Modi and the UAE President agreed on the importance of ensuring safe and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

PM Modi stressed that both nations will continue to work together to restore peace, security, and stability in the region. He also conveyed Eid greetings to President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan via social media platform X, stating, “I spoke with my brother, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and extended my best wishes for Eid in advance. We discussed the current situation in West Asia and reiterated our strong condemnation of all attacks on the UAE that resulted in the loss of innocent lives and damage to civilian infrastructure. We agreed on the importance of ensuring safe and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. We will continue to work together for the swift restoration of peace, security, and stability in the region.”
