U.S. Defense Secretary Asserts Trumps Decision Will Determine Wars Fate

Washington, March 19: U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth addressed the media regarding airstrikes on Iran, emphasizing that the resolution of the conflict rests solely with President Donald Trump. He paid tribute to the American soldiers who lost their lives in the conflict and expressed condolences to their families. Hegseth dismissed the notion of a specific timeline to end the war, asserting that what has been initiated will not be left unfinished.

Hegseth stated that only President Trump will determine when the war will conclude. He told reporters, “We do not wish to set a definitive timeline,” adding, “We are largely on the right path,” and that it is up to Trump to decide when to stop.

“When we declare that we have completed our mission, he (Trump) will make his decision accordingly,” Hegseth noted.

He shared details of his meetings with families of the fallen soldiers, saying, “Families of the American soldiers who died in battle have urged the government not to leave this fight unfinished and to complete the mission. When the remains of the fallen soldiers arrived at Dover Air Force Base, the grieving families present urged, ‘End this. Honor their sacrifice. Do not waver. Do not stop until the job is done.’ My and the President’s response was straightforward: ‘Of course, we will finish this.’ We will honor their sacrifice.”

Hegseth spoke with the families of six U.S. service members who died in a military refueling aircraft crash over Iraq.

The Defense Secretary compared Iran to Hamas, stating, “Iran has invested heavily in tunnels, rockets, missiles, and drones. The U.S. military is targeting all of these with unmatched precision, unlike any other army in the world, just as we did with Hamas.”

He further stated, “So far, the U.S. has attacked over 7,000 targets in Iran. This is not an exaggeration. These strikes have been precise. The largest attack to date will occur on Thursday, similar to what happened the day before.”

Hegseth claimed that Iran’s capability to produce new ballistic missiles has likely suffered the most significant blow, with a 90% decrease in their capabilities since the conflict began. He asserted, “UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), or kamikaze drones, have decreased by 90%.”

According to the U.S. Defense Secretary, “Our strength is continuously increasing, while Iran’s power is diminishing. We have completely dismantled Iran’s air defense system.”
