Madhubani, May 11: Police in Bihar’s Madhubani district successfully rescued two young men who had been kidnapped. The abductors had demanded a ransom from the victims’ families for their release. Authorities have also arrested two individuals involved in the kidnapping.
A police official reported that on May 9, Ramdatt Mehta, a resident of Madanpur in the Bharrhari police station area, filed a written complaint at the Sadar police station. He stated that his son, Manohar Kumar, and son-in-law, Karan Kumar, were abducted while returning home from Madhubani Medical College with medicine and test reports.
Following the abduction, the victims’ families received calls demanding ransom via the victims’ mobile phones. Based on this complaint, a case was registered at the Madhubani police station, and an investigation was initiated. Given the seriousness of the situation, the Superintendent of Police ordered the formation of a special task force led by the Additional Superintendent of Police and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Madhubani.
The team quickly began its investigation using technical evidence, mobile locations, and gathered information. During the inquiry, it was discovered that the kidnappers were planning to collect the ransom near the City Cart Mall at Madhubani College Chowk. Acting on this information, the police set up a perimeter in the area.
In this operation, as the kidnapper, Jyotish Kumar, arrived at the scene with the abducted Karan Kumar, police apprehended him and safely rescued Karan Kumar. Following Jyotish Kumar’s lead, police also found the other victim, Manohar Kumar, near a tea shop close to Madhubani Kiran Public School. Additionally, another suspect, Sonu Kumar, was arrested. Authorities revealed that Sonu Kumar has a history of criminal activity, including previous jail time for robbery and other offenses.
