Washington, May 20: President Donald Trump has announced the construction of a new ballroom at the White House, describing it as a highly secure and modern facility. He stated that this structure will be military-grade, designed to withstand drone attacks, and will rank among the most beautiful buildings in Washington.
During a site visit, Trump informed reporters that he and several private donors are funding the project. He emphasized that the ballroom will serve not only for events but will also play a crucial role in national security.
“This is a gift to the United States. More than just a gift, it will be one of the most beautiful buildings ever constructed in this country or in Washington,” Trump remarked.
He detailed that the ballroom’s roof is being reinforced to be completely “drone-proof.” According to him, the roof will be designed like a “drone port,” capable of accommodating numerous drones.
Trump repeatedly stressed that the ballroom will act as a protective shield for underground facilities and military structures. The ballroom complex is connected to an extensive underground security infrastructure that spans several floors. He noted, “This construction will extend six floors underground, where a hospital and various research centers are being established.”
The ballroom will cover these security and military facilities, providing a protective layer. Trump also mentioned the materials used in the building, stating that it will feature extremely strong steel and specialized glass approximately four inches thick, capable of withstanding nearly any attack.
“This glass will be about four inches thick and can stop almost anything,” he said. For security reasons, the air conditioning and ventilation systems will be kept within the building to prevent any tampering with air quality.
Trump compared the ballroom’s design to ancient Greek and Roman architecture, noting that the exterior design draws inspiration from the U.S. Supreme Court building.
Despite increased military needs, Trump assured that the project is progressing ahead of schedule. He estimated that private donors and companies have contributed around $400 million to the project.
He claimed that this ballroom would resolve a long-standing logistical issue at the White House, where large events are often held in temporary tents on the South Lawn. Historically, the White House has relied on temporary structures for major state events, press dinners, and formal ceremonies.
