Trump Dismisses Iran Deal, Questions New Supreme Leaders Existence

Washington, March 15: President Donald Trump has rejected the ongoing negotiations aimed at easing tensions with Iran. He stated that the terms of the proposed deal are not satisfactory. Additionally, he expressed skepticism about the existence of Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.

In a significant telephone interview with NBC News on Saturday, Trump noted that Iran has shown interest in negotiations. However, he emphasized that Washington will not rush into a ceasefire agreement while the conflict persists.

Trump remarked, “Iran wants to make a deal, but I don’t want to because the terms are not good enough right now.” When asked about the potential agreement’s conditions, he declined to provide specifics, stating, “I don’t want to tell you that.” Nevertheless, he indicated that abandoning nuclear ambitions would be a top priority for anyone involved.

During the interview, Trump confirmed that U.S. forces had conducted a strike on Iran’s strategic oil export hub, Kharg Island. He stated, “We completely destroyed Kharg Island, but we could strike it again. Aside from that, I haven’t done anything related to energy lines, as rebuilding them takes years.”

Moreover, Trump expressed doubts about the new Supreme Leader’s survival, noting that he has not been seen publicly since assuming power. “I don’t know if he’s alive or not. No one has shown him yet. I’m hearing he might not be alive, and if he is, he should do something smart for his country, which is to surrender,” Trump added.

He refrained from naming any specific Iranian figure as a potential future leader, simply stating, “We have people who could be great leaders for the future of the country.”

In light of rising global energy prices, Trump discussed his decision to temporarily ease some bans on Russian oil fields. He stated, “I want oil for the world. These bans, which were imposed after Russia’s attack on Ukraine in 2022, will be lifted once the crisis is over.”

When asked about the hope for assistance in the fight against Ukraine, Trump said, “The last person we need help from is Volodymyr Zelensky.”
