Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy to Present 2026-27 Budget on August 24

Puducherry, August 7: The Pro Tem Speaker of the Puducherry Assembly, A. Anbalagan, announced on Friday that the budget for 2026-27 will be presented on August 24. The assembly session will reconvene on the same day, following its initial meeting in May.

Speaking to reporters at the Puducherry Assembly complex, the Speaker stated that the proceedings will commence at 9:30 AM with an address from Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, who also oversees the finance department, will present the budget at 3 PM.

Anbalagan noted that the first meeting of the 16th Puducherry Assembly took place on May 20, but the session was subsequently adjourned.

He added that arrangements have been made for the public to view the assembly proceedings live on the assembly’s website, social media platforms, and local television channels. A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee will be held to determine the duration of the session.

Additionally, bills and other documents presented in the assembly will be published on the assembly’s website.

Lieutenant Governor Kailashnathan administered the oath of office to N. Rangasamy as Chief Minister for a record fifth time during a ceremony held at the Raj Nivas on May 13. Earlier this week, six ministers were allocated their respective departments in Puducherry.

Chief Minister Rangasamy retains several key portfolios, including Home and Cabinet, Planning and Finance, Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Cooperation, Revenue and Excise, General Administration, Health and Family Welfare, Hindu Religious Institutions, Waqf Board, Local Administration, Urban Basic Services, Transport, Science, Technology and Environment, Urban and Rural Planning, Information and Publicity, Fire Services, and other subjects not assigned to other ministers.
