Agartala, March 23 : Tripura assembly on Wednesday expressed serious concern over increasing political violence in the state and the members demanded immediate steps to stop such incidents and booked the criminals immediately. After question hour, ruling BJP legislator Shankar Roy sought the attention of the government on the series of violence that occurred between BJP workers and Pradyot Kishore’s Tipra Motha cadres on Tuesday at Kalasi in Jolaibari in South Tripura that left several injured including two police officers and at least 20 shops in Bikhora market was set ablaze. He alleged under the Tipra Motha banner, CPI-M cadres have been indulging violence in tribal areas and Kalasi incident was one of them. Not only in South Tripura in the tribal areas almost every day such untoward incidents are reported that affect the development activities and public life. However, Deputy Chief Minister holding CM’s charge Jishnu Dev Varma didn’t respond. According to a report, BJP activists were creating hindrances in developmental works since Motha wrested TTAADC from CPM. The BJP brought supporters at Kalasi village centre from different nearby localities and created chaos leading to a clash over keeping dominance on the works. “The state government is not holding Village Council elections of ADC but BJP cadres have been trying to control all developmental works in ADC areas, which was not accepted. The ADC authority has already constituted village wise committees to carry out the works until an election council is formed but BJP cadres flout it, leading to chaos,” alleged Motha leaders. Meanwhile, rubbishing the allegation BJP MLA Shankar Roy accused Tipra Motha of triggering violence and said, “Motha with the help of CPI-M unnecessarily created tension to disrupt the development to defame the government.” BB RN
