
Mumbai, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : Friends and colleagues of the late actor Nana Patekar have expressed their grief following his passing. Health guru Dr. Mickey Mehta and lawyer Onkar Shirsagar shared their memories and heartfelt condolences during a recent conversation.
Dr. Mehta remembered Patekar as an exceptional artist, noting his impressive range as a villain, supporting actor, and comedian, particularly highlighting his role in the film “Welcome.” The two had known each other since childhood, having grown up in the same neighborhood. Their friendship blossomed when Mehta was tasked with bringing Patekar to an event hosted by Amruta Fadnavis’s foundation.
Reflecting on their encounters, Dr. Mehta recounted their conversations during workouts at the gym in Dubai, where Patekar was filming “Welcome.” They met three times in total, which helped forge a strong bond.
Onkar Shirsagar spoke of his long-standing connection to Patekar, describing him as a warm and approachable person. He noted that Patekar was deeply involved in his community, often helping resolve issues among neighbors. Shirsagar mentioned the grandeur with which Patekar celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi, emphasizing the sorrow felt by the community upon his passing.
Shirsagar also shared that Patekar’s body was expected to arrive later in the day, and the villagers were preparing the area to accommodate the anticipated influx of mourners. He revealed that Patekar had expressed a desire for his last rites to be conducted in their village, a wish he had voiced in multiple interviews. The community’s efforts to maintain the site reflect their love and respect for the beloved actor.
