Tragic Overdose Incident Unveils Drug Parties in Kolkata

Kolkata, June 2: A tragic incident in South Kolkata’s Golf Green area has come to light, revealing the deaths of a young couple due to a drug overdose. Post-mortem reports confirmed that the cause of death was indeed an overdose.

A senior officer from the Kolkata police reported that the flat rented by Mohammad Dilshad was frequently used for house parties attended by young men and women. The gatherings involved the consumption of drugs and alcohol, and it is alleged that explicit reels were filmed there.

The bodies of Dilshad and his girlfriend, Mehuli Sanyal, were discovered in the flat on Sunday. Mehuli’s mother has accused that her daughter was murdered. Based on her complaint, police arrested a couple, Mushtaq Ali Mollah, also known as Rohit, and Anjali Bangiro, on Sunday. Mushtaq resides in the southern suburb of Haridevpur.

Anjali, a college student from Jharkhand, was in Kolkata for her studies. Police also apprehended a young man named Chandan Paswan. Mushtaq, Anjali, and Chandan had hosted a ‘house party’ on Saturday night, which Dilshad and Mehuli attended.

Investigations revealed that Mehuli had left home in 2023 with a young man named Shahbaz and had since lived with multiple partners. She was last seen living with Mushtaq. Mehuli was known to frequently attend house and rave parties in South Kolkata, where she met college student Anjali. Mushtaq often stayed at the same flat as Dilshad.

The police noted that these young individuals would spend one or two nights together, openly consuming alcohol and drugs. In exchange, they were required to pay Dilshad a substantial amount as a ‘package.’ The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek further information.
