Tragic Nepal Bus Accident: Bodies of Seven Tamil Nadu Pilgrims Arrive in New Delhi

New Delhi, March 18: The bodies of seven Tamil Nadu pilgrims who tragically lost their lives in a bus accident in Nepal have been brought to New Delhi. L. Murugan, the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, confirmed this during a media interaction at Chennai International Airport.

The deceased arrived in the national capital on Wednesday, and preparations are underway to transport the bodies to their respective hometowns for final rites.

The victims were part of a pilgrimage group traveling in Nepal when the accident occurred on March 14. Among the deceased, four hailed from Pallachi in Coimbatore district, while the other three were residents of Chennai.

Murugan stated that the Indian Embassy in Nepal coordinated relief efforts immediately after the accident and provided urgent medical assistance to the injured.

He remarked, “The embassy offered all necessary support and facilitated the process of bringing the bodies back to India.” The minister also noted that four individuals sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment. Additionally, three others with minor injuries are expected to be discharged from a Kathmandu hospital by the end of the day.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, Murugan personally contacted officials at the Indian Embassy. He shared, “I immediately reached out to embassy officials, who informed me that steps were being taken to bring the bodies to Delhi and assist those affected.”

Authorities have now begun coordinating to ensure a smooth transfer of the bodies from Delhi to Pallachi and Chennai.

Local administrative units in Tamil Nadu will assist grieving families with necessary arrangements upon the arrival of the bodies.

This incident has proven to be profoundly tragic for the families involved, with loved ones in Pallachi and Chennai awaiting the return of their dear ones.

The government has assured families of all possible support during this difficult time.
