Tragic Fire in Odisha Hospital Claims Lives of Ten Patients

Bhubaneswar, March 16: A devastating incident occurred in Odisha’s Cuttack on Monday morning when a fire broke out in a hospital, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least ten patients. The exact number of fatalities is still being confirmed, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire. Preliminary reports suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze.

According to reports from The Hindu, the fire in the ICU led to the deaths of ten patients, with five others suffering severe burns. Some patients were relocated to a new building within the hospital premises for their safety. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Manjhi visited the hospital to assess the situation.

Eyewitness accounts reported that the fire erupted between 2:30 AM and 3:00 AM. Officials indicated that a short circuit could be the cause. The fire brigade responded promptly, but unfortunately, patients on ventilator support succumbed to smoke inhalation.

This tragic event has raised serious concerns about hospital safety protocols and emergency response measures. Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
