Tragic Collision in Andhra Pradesh Claims Seven Lives

Amaravati, August 27: A devastating accident occurred early Thursday morning in the Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of at least seven individuals and injuries to eight others. Among the deceased, six were women.

According to police reports, the incident took place near Adda Road in Chilkalaripet when a private bus traveling from Vijayawada to Tirupati collided with an auto-rickshaw. The auto-rickshaw was carrying approximately 15 passengers, and tragically, seven lost their lives. Among the injured, which included four children, eight people were hospitalized at the Government General Hospital in Guntur and the Government Hospital in Chilkalaripet.

The victims were residents of Veluru village in the Chilkalaripet mandal, returning from a birthday party in Kondamanzulur, Prakasham district. Four individuals died at the scene, while two succumbed to their injuries at the Government General Hospital in Guntur, and one passed away at the Government Hospital in Chilkalaripet.

The deceased have been identified as Bontu Babu (62), Bontu Manemma (55), Sampurnamma (70), Gangamma (50), Lakshmamma (75), Chautupalli Swarthamma (45), and Mariamma (45).

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound sorrow over this tragic road accident. He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and instructed officials to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care while closely monitoring their health.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also expressed his grief regarding the accident. He communicated with district officials, urging them to guarantee superior treatment for the injured.

Meanwhile, State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita spoke with the Additional SP of Palnadu regarding the accident in Chilkalaripet. She sought details about the severity of the incident, the victims, and the status of relief efforts. Describing the deaths of seven individuals as extremely tragic, Minister Anita conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families.

She instructed police officials to ensure that the injured receive excellent medical treatment and that their health is continuously monitored. Minister Anita also mandated a thorough investigation into all aspects of the incident, including the circumstances leading to the accident, the bus’s speed, and any potential negligence by the driver.

She emphasized the need for strict enforcement of road safety regulations for private vehicles to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.
