Tragic Accident at Under-Construction Khatu Shyam Temple in Azamgarh Claims One Life

Azamgarh, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic incident occurred on November 2 in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, when scaffolding at the under-construction Khatu Shyam Temple collapsed. The accident took place near the Bhavanath Temple in the Kandharapur police area, trapping three workers beneath the debris.

At the time of the incident, workers were preparing to lay the roof slab. Suddenly, the scaffolding gave way, and the workers were unable to react in time, leading to their entrapment under the rubble. Panic ensued as nearby residents rushed to the scene.

Local police and an ambulance team arrived promptly after receiving reports of the incident. With the help of community members, they initiated rescue operations, successfully extracting the three injured workers and transporting them to the district hospital.

Dr. Vipin Kumar, the emergency medical officer at the hospital, reported that Rajaram Rajbhar, 30, was brought in dead. Kamlesh Chauhan, approximately 23 years old, suffered severe head injuries and was referred to a higher medical center after initial treatment. The third injured worker, Arun Chauhan, 35, sustained minor injuries and is receiving care at the district hospital.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the scaffolding’s collapse. Preliminary assessments suggest that it may have fallen due to inadequate support or weaknesses in the structure. Police have begun questioning the contractor and other individuals involved in the temple’s construction.

This incident has raised serious concerns about safety standards at construction sites. Local residents have voiced their worries, claiming that adequate safety measures were not in place during the temple’s construction. They believe that a timely inspection of the scaffolding’s integrity could have prevented this tragic accident. The police have stated that strict action will be taken against those found negligent once the investigation concludes.
