Traffic Restrictions Announced in Udaipur for Roop Chaudas and Diwali Festivities

Udaipur, October 18 (Daily Kiran): The Udaipur City Police has announced special traffic arrangements and restrictions in view of Roop Chaudas and Diwali celebrations to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety. The restrictions will remain in force from October 19 at 4:00 AM to October 22 late night, according to Additional SP (City) Umesh Ojha.

Due to the large number of devotees visiting the Mahalaxmi Temple at Bhattiyani Chauhatta for Mahalaxmi Darshan and Annakoot Mahotsav, all vehicle entry will be prohibited in the area from Rang Niwas Tiraaha to Jagdish Chowk during the period.

Traffic Restrictions

October 19 (Roop Chaudas):

From 4:00 PM till late night, the entry of four-wheelers will be restricted on:

  1. Delhi Gate–Bapu Bazaar–Old Control Room to Amrit Namkeen route.

  2. Mandi Gate to Teej Ka Chowk–Dhanmandi Chowk–Marshal Chowraha.
    Visitors coming to see the festive lighting can park their cars at the Surajpol Tanga Stand mechanised parking or at Fateh School parking.

October 20 (Diwali Night):

From 4:00 PM till late night, three-wheelers and four-wheelers will not be allowed on:

  1. Chandpol Gate to Jagdish Chowk

  2. Hathipol Gate to Ghantaghar and Jagdish Chowk

  3. Bada Bazaar to Ghantaghar and Jagdish Chowk

Full vehicle restrictions will also apply from:

  • Ghantaghar to Mukherjee Chowk, Marshal Chowraha, Old Control Room, and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park.

  • Amrit Namkeen (Old Control Room) to Bapu Bazaar and Delhi Gate.

  • RMV to Sthal Mandir and Old Control Room.

October 21–25 (Till Labh Panchami):

  1. Four-wheelers will not be allowed from Tourist Police Station to Jagdish Chowk.

  2. One-way traffic will remain in force from Chandpol to Jagdish Chowk, while vehicles from Jagdish Chowk to Chandpol will be diverted towards Ghantaghar and Hathipol.

  3. Vehicles from Bada Bazaar will go towards Hathipol instead of Jagdish Chowk.

  4. Entry for three- and four-wheelers will be prohibited from Jagdish Chowk to Rang Niwas.

  5. Hathipol to Jagdish Chowk route will also remain closed for cars and autos.

  6. Entry for four-wheelers will be banned from Kacheri Teli Samaj Nohera to Brahmpol, Chandpol, and Jagdish Chowk.

  7. Tourist buses will not be allowed to enter the city.

Heavy vehicles coming from Ahmedabad will not be allowed beyond Balicha on October 19–20, and those from Bhuvana will be diverted via Pratapnagar to Balicha.

Parking Arrangements

  1. Vehicles can be parked at Delhi Gate Tanga Stand Municipal Parking and opposite Taibiya School, leaving the main road clear.

  2. Chandpol Municipal Parking for four-wheelers.

  3. Hathipol Gate and Jhadiya Marg designated parking zones.

  4. Hemraj Akhada Parking near Rang Niwas.

  5. Municipal Parking near PWD Office, Gulab Bagh.

  6. Surajpol Tanga Stand mechanised parking for cars.

  7. Vehicles from Mallatalai to Brahmpol–Chandpol–Jagdish Chowk can use Kacheri Teli Samaj Nohera for parking.

Emergency services including ambulances, fire brigades, and essential vehicles will be exempted from these restrictions.

The Udaipur Police has appealed to all citizens to cooperate with the traffic police and help maintain smooth and safe traffic movement during the festive period.
