New Delhi, March 22: The 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kick off on March 28, with the first match featuring Royal Challengers Bangalore against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Here are the five umpires who have officiated the most matches in the league’s history.

Anil Chaudhary holds the record for the most matches umpired in IPL history, having officiated a total of 131 matches. The Indian-origin umpire has been part of the IPL since 2012.

Sundaram Ravi is also tied for the top spot, having officiated 131 matches in the league. He made his IPL debut in 2009 and officiated his last match in 2021.

Nitin Menon ranks second in terms of matches umpired, with a total of 113 matches. He first appeared as an umpire in the IPL in 2016.

Kumar Dharmasena, a former Sri Lankan cricketer, is third on the list, having officiated 98 matches since his IPL debut in 2009.

Chettithody Shamshuddin ranks fourth, with 89 matches officiated since he started in the league in 2012.

Finally, New Zealand’s Chris Gaffaney rounds out the top five, having officiated 83 matches since his IPL debut in 2015.
