TMC Denies Claims of I-PAC Halting Operations in West Bengal for 20 Days

Kolkata, April 19: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has refuted claims made by the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) regarding a 20-day suspension of operations in West Bengal. In an official statement, TMC asserted that there is an attempt to spread confusion.

I-PAC has been functioning as a voter strategy agency for the TMC since 2022. Some media reports alleged that I-PAC management sent emails to employees late Saturday night, instructing them to go on leave for 20 days.

TMC responded, stating, “We have received a media report claiming that I-PAC has halted its operations in West Bengal for the next 20 days. This claim is entirely baseless and appears to be a deliberate attempt to create confusion on the ground.”

The party emphasized, “The I-PAC team in West Bengal is fully integrated with the All India Trinamool Congress. The electoral campaign across the state is proceeding as planned. These statements are a calculated effort to distract from the clear mood of the people on the ground. The people of Bengal are fully capable of understanding these attempts and will respond democratically. Voters in West Bengal will not be swayed by misinformation or intimidation. They will decisively respond on April 23 and 29, and the results on May 4 will reflect their decision.”

Last week, TMC General Secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee expressed concern following the arrest of I-PAC co-founder Vinesh Chandel. He remarked that the Enforcement Directorate’s actions, just ten days before two crucial phases of the West Bengal Assembly elections, are alarming and undermine the principle of equal opportunity for all.

It is noteworthy that last week, the ED summoned Pulkit Jain, brother of I-PAC co-founder Prateek Jain, and his wife Barbie Jain for questioning at its headquarters in New Delhi regarding an ongoing investigation into a coal smuggling scam. However, neither appeared for the inquiry.
