New Delhi, February 23: A serious bomb threat has been issued against Delhi’s Red Fort and Secretariat, prompting the Delhi Assembly to write to the police commissioner for immediate action.
In a letter from the Delhi Assembly, it was reported that threatening emails containing bomb threats were received at both the personal email of the Assembly Speaker and the official Assembly email. The first email arrived on February 23 at 8:57 AM, sent under the name ‘Khalistan National Army,’ mentioning individuals such as Engineer Gurnakh Singh, Rukan Shahwala, Dr. Gurnirvair Singh, and Khan Rajada.
A second email, also from ‘Khalistan National Army,’ was received at 9:08 AM on the same day at the official Assembly email.
In response, the Assembly Speaker has directed the police commissioner to take immediate and appropriate action. An investigation is to be launched to trace the source of these emails, which specifically threaten the Delhi Assembly Secretariat and the Speaker.
Upon receiving the threat, the Delhi Police, Fire Brigade, and other security agencies swiftly mobilized, initiating a thorough search operation at both locations. The Red Fort complex was evacuated, and extensive checks were conducted inside and outside. Employees at the Delhi Secretariat were also promptly evacuated. Bomb disposal units and dog squads were deployed for the investigation. Fortunately, no suspicious items were found.
According to officials, the cyber cell has been alerted. The police are currently investigating whether this is a prank or part of a larger conspiracy. As of now, no suspicious items have been recovered, but security agencies remain on high alert.
