The Nine Ayurvedic Herbs Linked to Navadurga: A Blessing for Health

New Delhi, March 21: The nine days of Navratri celebrate Navadurga, who symbolize not only spiritual strength but also convey messages of health and balance in our lives. Each of these nine goddesses is associated with an Ayurvedic medicinal plant, serving as a boon for both body and mind.

On the first day, Mother Shailputri is linked to Haritaki, known for strengthening the digestive system and aiding detoxification. The second day honors Mother Brahmacharini, associated with Brahmi. This plant is highly effective in enhancing brain function and reducing stress. On the third day, Mother Chandraghanta is worshipped, connected to the Chandra Sur plant, which cools the stomach and alleviates issues like gas and constipation.

The fourth day is dedicated to Mother Kushmanda, linked to Pumpkin (Petha), which cools the body and provides energy. On the fifth day, Skandamata is honored, associated with Flaxseed, which helps balance Vata and Pitta in the body and is beneficial for heart health. The sixth day celebrates Mother Katyayani, connected to the medicinal plant Moia, which offers relief from cough and Pitta-related issues.

On the seventh day, Mother Kalratri is worshipped, associated with Nagdona, known for its powerful medicinal properties that help protect against various infections. The eighth day honors Mahagauri, linked to the Tulsi plant, revered in Ayurveda as a source of immortality, enhancing immunity and protecting against diseases. Finally, on the ninth day, Mother Siddhidatri is associated with Shatavari, which combats weakness and provides strength and energy.
