Hyderabad, June 12: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made a heartfelt appeal to society on Friday, urging everyone to take responsibility for eradicating child labor. This call to action coincided with World Day Against Child Labor.
He stated, “Every child’s childhood is their birthright. The opportunity to learn, play, grow happily, and pursue their dreams is a natural right for every child. It is our collective duty to ensure that practices like child labor, which rob these rights, have no place in our society.”
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to providing every child with quality education, safety, a healthy environment, and equal opportunities. He also urged families, teachers, NGOs, elected representatives, and all citizens to join in this mission.
He stressed that child labor should never be encouraged under any circumstances. If anyone witnesses children working, it is the responsibility of every citizen to report it to the relevant authorities. He remarked that saving a child from labor is akin to giving them a new beginning.
“Children should hold books in their hands, not tools. They should carry hopes for the future, not burdens. It is our collective responsibility to create a Telangana where every child grows up laughing, learning, and dreaming,” he added.
Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy also reiterated the call to protect every child’s rights. He posted on the social media platform ‘X’ that childhood is meant for learning, dreaming, and progressing, not for working. He urged everyone to pledge on World Day Against Child Labor to safeguard the rights of every child and strive for a India where opportunities reach every home.
