Patna, March 30: Tejashwi Yadav, the national executive president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly, commented on Nitish Kumar’s resignation from the Legislative Council, stating that it was inevitable. In a media interaction, he claimed that the BJP has deceived both the people of Bihar and Nitish Kumar.
Yadav remarked, “Nitish Kumar’s decision to join the Rajya Sabha was made under pressure. We have always maintained that if the NDA came to power, Nitish Kumar would not remain as Chief Minister. Today, that has been proven true.”
He leveled serious allegations against the BJP, asserting that they have cheated both the citizens of Bihar and Nitish Kumar. He highlighted the misuse of money and machinery during elections, particularly targeting female voters. Women were promised ₹10,000 during the elections, with an additional ₹1.90 lakh to follow later, but the timeline for this payment remains unclear.
He further stated, “The promises regarding electricity rates were also misleading. After pledging 125 units of free electricity, rates have increased. Overall, this is a government of deceivers. Bihar has the highest electricity rates. If they can deceive their own, imagine the plight of the people of Bihar.”
Tejashwi Yadav also predicted a significant rise in petrol and diesel prices following elections in five states. He raised concerns about law and order in Bihar, claiming that the BJP is solely focused on seizing power.
Regarding the new Chief Minister, he mentioned that it is too early to say, but it is certain that Nitish Kumar will no longer be Bihar’s Chief Minister. He criticized the lack of discussions on education, agriculture, and unemployment, questioning how development can occur when the government is not stable. He also announced plans to campaign in Kerala, where the RJD is contesting three seats.
