Tamil Nadu CM Stalin Highlights DMK Policies Adopted by Centre

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday stated that several key schemes initiated by the DMK government have been adopted by the central government. He expressed surprise that despite the Governor R.N. Ravi’s repeated criticism of the state administration, he seemed unaware of this fact.

Responding to the Governor’s address during the state assembly debate, Chief Minister Stalin pointed out that Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself acknowledged Tamil Nadu’s achievements in the cooperative sector by presenting awards.

He further mentioned that Tamil Nadu has received a total of 65 awards from the central government. Yet, the Governor continues to criticise the state administration, which Stalin described as a reflection of a distorted perspective.

Discussing law and order, the Chief Minister said that during the current DMK government’s tenure, Tamil Nadu has not witnessed incidents of communal riots, caste conflicts, or gang violence. He credited this achievement to the Dravidian governance model.

Stalin added that officials from other states regularly visit Tamil Nadu to study its schemes and express interest in adopting them.

Highlighting the state’s health sector, the Chief Minister announced that Tamil Nadu’s Health and Family Welfare Department has been honoured with the prestigious United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force Award (UNIATF) 2024 under the Ministry of Health category for its flagship primary healthcare programme ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’.

This recognition, Stalin said, is a global endorsement of Tamil Nadu’s public health model.

On the economic front, Stalin noted significant transformations in recent years. He stated that after languishing at the bottom in 2018, Tamil Nadu has emerged as the best-performing state in the startup ecosystem.

The state also tops the Export Preparedness Index with a score of 80.89 and leads the country in electronics manufacturing, accounting for 41.23 per cent of national production.
