Greater Noida, May 18: A married woman’s suspicious death in Jalpura village, Greater Noida, has sent shockwaves through the community. The victim’s family has accused her in-laws of dowry harassment, while preliminary police investigations suggest she may have taken her own life due to ongoing dowry-related pressures.
The incident has left the victim’s family in turmoil and has cast a pall of grief over the village. The deceased has been identified as Deepika, daughter of Sanjay, a resident of Kudi Kheda village in Badalpur.
Reports indicate that Deepika was married about 14 months ago to Hrithik, son of Manoj, from Jalpura village, in a lavish ceremony that reportedly cost around one crore rupees, including a Fortuner vehicle. Despite this, her in-laws allegedly continued to demand additional dowry.
Family members claim that Deepika faced both mental and physical abuse since her marriage. They reported finding severe injuries on her body, raising suspicions of foul play. Upon learning of the incident, family members arrived at the scene and accused the in-laws of murdering Deepika.
The EcoTech-3 police station responded promptly, seizing the body and sending it for post-mortem examination. They have begun gathering evidence and have registered a case based on the victim’s father’s complaint.
Initial investigations by the police suggest that Deepika was distressed over dowry harassment and may have jumped from the roof of her home to end her life. However, further actions will depend on the post-mortem report and other evidence. In a swift response, police have arrested Deepika’s husband Hrithik and father-in-law Manoj.
Authorities have stated that they are investigating every aspect of the case. The true cause of death will be revealed following the post-mortem report. Meanwhile, Deepika’s family is demanding strict action against the accused and justice for their daughter.
