Suspected Militants Attack in Manipur Leaves One Woman Dead, Two Civilians Missing
A woman was killed and two others went missing in an attack by suspected militants in Manipurs Kamjong district.

Imphal, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic incident unfolded in Manipur’s Kamjong district on Thursday evening when suspected militants targeted two motorcyclists. The attack resulted in the death of a middle-aged woman from the Kuki community, while two other civilians remain unaccounted for.
According to a police officer, four locals were ambushed while traveling between Faikoh and Molvailup to purchase essential supplies. The deceased has been identified as Hatemakim Haokip. Her husband narrowly escaped the attack.
Currently, the whereabouts of the two missing civilians are unknown, prompting security forces to launch a search operation in collaboration with local residents.
Various organizations, including the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), have condemned the killing. KIM’s information and publicity secretary, Janghaolan Haokip, accused the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) of being behind the assault. He emphasized that this group has repeatedly targeted unarmed civilians, particularly women and children.
Describing the incident as a severe violation of humanitarian principles, Haokip condemned the attacks on vulnerable citizens and rural communities. He also criticized both the state and central governments for the deteriorating law and order situation, which has emboldened militant groups.
Haokip called for immediate action to identify and apprehend those responsible for Haokip’s death and to locate the two missing civilians. He stressed that mere assurances are no longer sufficient and demanded concrete steps to ensure citizen safety and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Offering condolences to the grieving family, he stated that KIM stands with them during this difficult time. The organization warned that failure to take urgent and effective measures to bring the culprits to justice and ensure the safety of innocent people could lead to increased public unrest and tension.
