Chandigarh, February 11: Sunil Jakhar, the president of the Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has condemned the recent attack on migrant workers in Moga district. He alleged that these workers were targeted as part of a conspiracy.
Jakhar expressed his concerns on the social media platform X, stating, “Previously, businessmen were being targeted in Punjab, which deterred new industries from coming here. Now, the targeting of migrant workers in Moga is a deplorable act.”
He accused certain individuals of spreading poison in society regarding this issue. Jakhar emphasized that this behavior is not reflective of Punjabi culture and goes against the teachings of the Guru Sahibs.
He further remarked, “These migrant workers significantly contribute to Punjab’s industry and agriculture. The Bhagwant Mann government must awaken from its slumber and take decisive action against forces that sow discord and disrupt law and order.”
The attack on migrant workers occurred on Tuesday morning in Khosha Jalal village, Moga, while they were heading for lunch. Three individuals on a motorcycle opened fire on them without provocation.
Ajay Gandhi, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Moga, confirmed the incident, stating that around 11 AM, three unidentified assailants fired upon the migrant workers. One worker, named Ashok, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. The motives behind the attack remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing from all angles.
Gandhi assured that strict action would be taken against all individuals involved in the shooting of the migrant workers. Police teams are actively searching for the attackers in a mission-mode operation.
