New Delhi, May 21: In IPL 2026, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill have showcased remarkable performances while playing for Gujarat Titans (GT). This opening pair has continued to impress with their batting skills this season. In a recent interview, Sudharsan heaped praise on his partner and captain, Gill.
Sudharsan described Shubman Gill as a mastermind who has a deep understanding of the game.
In a conversation with JioHotstar, Sudharsan stated, “Shubman is a mastermind. He comprehends the game exceptionally well and is technically very strong. This gives you the freedom to play your game because you know Shubman is at the other end. I believe it works the other way too. When Gill tries to attack the bowlers, he knows I’m there to stabilize the innings.”
He added, “I think we understand each other very well. We share a great relationship, know each other’s game, and play accordingly.”
Regarding breaking Chris Gayle’s record for the most runs after 50 innings in the IPL, Sudharsan remarked, “When a record is broken, it feels great and is a significant achievement, as it confirms we are moving in the right direction. I believe these achievements and accolades help me trust myself more, have greater faith in my abilities, and continue on this path.”
Sudharsan has had an outstanding season in IPL 2026. He has scored 554 runs at a strike rate of 157 in 13 matches, including one century and six half-centuries. Currently, he ranks fourth among the highest run-scorers. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has amassed 552 runs at a strike rate of 160 in 12 matches.
