New Delhi, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar chaired an advisory committee meeting on India-West Asia relations in New Delhi on September 7. The meeting addressed several crucial topics related to strengthening ties with the region.
In a post on social media platform X, Jaishankar emphasized the importance of India’s close relationships with the Gulf and WANA (West Asia and North Africa) regions. He highlighted ongoing partnerships in trade, investment, energy, maritime issues, and cultural exchanges. The minister also discussed the welfare of 10 million Indians in the region, ensuring energy and fertilizer security, and advancing trade and connectivity amid regional conflicts.
Earlier, Jaishankar met with Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn. Following their discussions, both addressed a joint press conference, sharing updates on bilateral relations. Jaishankar described the partnership with Luxembourg as highly significant.
On X, he shared insights from the meeting, stating, “It was a pleasure to welcome Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn in New Delhi. In a world filled with uncertainty, reliable partnerships like that of India and Luxembourg have become crucial.”
He further noted that they discussed cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, fintech, startups, clean tech, space, health, education, and mobility. The two leaders also touched on global events and multilateral cooperation, expressing gratitude for Asselborn’s support of the India-EU partnership.
Welcoming Asselborn at Hyderabad House, Jaishankar remarked, “I am delighted to welcome you and your delegation to India. Your visit signifies the deepening partnership between us.” He thanked Asselborn for supporting the free trade agreement (FTA), stating that their collaboration has brought the agreement to its final stages and is now moving towards implementation.
