Kolkata, May 12: The newly formed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal, led by Suvendu Adhikari, is making swift decisions to enhance state security. Just three days after taking office, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced a significant initiative to bolster border security. Newly appointed minister Nisith Pramanik praised this decision during a special interview on Tuesday.
Pramanik stated, “Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has declared that within 45 days, all areas lacking fencing will undergo land acquisition to be handed over to the central government. This decision has brought joy to the people of West Bengal and the entire nation, as it will strengthen our national security.”
In a sharp critique, Pramanik also targeted Tamil Nadu’s opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin. He remarked, “Stalin should be ousted. The heavy voting against him in his state clearly indicates that his time is running out. A person who speaks against Sanatan Dharma should have no place in India. This land belongs to the Sanatanis. Sanatan Dharma teaches respect, but we also know how to deal with those who disrespect us.”
Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay, raised concerns about the new government’s decision. He pointed out that issues related to land allocation for border fencing have been contentious in the past, with local residents strongly opposing land acquisition.
Chattopadhyay also criticized the government regarding the Voter List Revision (SIR), claiming that nearly 3.5 million names were removed from the voter list, a move that has been legally challenged. He questioned the appointment of former election commission officials to significant administrative positions afterward.
