A passenger bus from Delhi to Srinagar was attacked in Ludhiana, prompting calls for swift action from authorities by the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association.

Ludhiana, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : A serious incident occurred in the Doraha area of Ludhiana, where a passenger bus traveling from Delhi to Srinagar was attacked with stones. This event has raised significant concerns, leading the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) to take a strong stance. On Monday, the association addressed the issue directly to the Punjab Chief Minister‘s office and the state’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav.

The JKSA demanded immediate intervention and strict action against the perpetrators. In a press release, they reported that officials from the Chief Minister’s office, including media advisor Baltej Pannu, engaged in discussions to ensure prompt action regarding the incident.

According to the association, such attacks pose a serious threat not only to the safety of passengers but also to inter-state harmony. Most of the passengers on the bus were from Jammu and Kashmir, including students. The stone pelting caused damage to the bus and instilled fear among the travelers.

Following the JKSA’s intervention, local authorities took action. Rakesh Kumar Yadav, the Superintendent of Police (Investigation) from Khanna, informed the national coordinator of JKSA, Nasir Khuehami, that a First Information Report (FIR) had been filed at the Doraha police station under sections 324(4) and 125 of the Indian Penal Code. The FIR number is 0343.

Yadav mentioned that multiple police teams have been formed to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. The JKSA expressed gratitude for the prompt action taken by the Punjab government and police, while also urging for the swift arrest and stringent punishment of the culprits to prevent future incidents. They called for enhanced security measures for buses traveling on the national highway to Jammu and Kashmir.

Doraha is located on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh National Highway and sees hundreds of buses pass through daily. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting inquiries with local residents to locate the suspects.
